Precious Metals
How it works
- Book an appointment – 076 789 7220
- Bring your photo ID, passport, or driver’s license.
Firstly we weigh the item to determine the exact weight and look for an identifying stamp on the item either 9, 10, 14, 15, 18, 21, 22, or 24ct. We then clean a small portion thoroughly and check the said area of the item on a state-of-the-art Thermoscientific XRF (X-ray fluorescence) gold gun to ascertain the exact percentage of pure gold in your item. For example, a 9ct ring should read exactly 37.5%. Unfortunately, there are some jewellers that under alloy the metal and make it say for example 7ct instead of 9ct and then just put a 9ct stamp on it and you would be none the wiser until you get to us and see for yourself. We also take old damaged jewellery so it does not have to be in pristine condition, just bring it all along and we will go through it with you. Once we agree on a price we can pay cash on the spot or eft with immediate clearance.
Many other gold buyers only buy using nitric acid and this is about 90% accurate they know this so they compensate with their offer. We also used to buy with nitric acid however we invested in the equipment to enable us to give you the client the best price guaranteed, provided the other quote comes from a licensed and accredited broker.
Often you would find that your jewellery contains numerous small diamonds. Most other gold buyers ignore these and just give you the price on the gold and no extra value, however since we are manufacturing jewellers we can often use these small diamonds if the quality is excellent so please be sure to keep this in mind. There may not be a large value equated to these but we know that every cent counts!
